Eli has been accepted into the Enterprise Estonia Product development programme, our project number is EU53839

Period of the sub-project: 11.02.2020 - 11.10.2020
Amount of support: 41310  EUR
Description of the sub-project:
Manufacturers and developers of unmanned aerial platforms have clearly understood that the best method of making unmanned aerial vehicles airborne, from confined areas, is a catapult launch. Catapult launch ensures uniform take-off dynamics in all weather conditions and does not place high requirements on autopilots. Catapult allows fast and stable take-off dynamics to unmanned platforms in all weather conditions. And they do not need any infrastructure or aerodromes. ELI OÜ has more than fifteen years of experience in operating and developing unmanned equipment. The catapult launchers created by ELI OÜ are compact and quick to set up and move, and do not require special knowledge to operate. The biggest competitive advantage of our device is the ability to create take-off carriages suitable for various unmanned aircraft quickly and according to the customer's needs. Namely, all airplanes are different from each other and there is no unified take-off base. Every unmanned airplane must be fitted with a suitable support in the form of a base carriage.

The aim of the program is to develop a pneumatic launcher for Unmanned Aerial platforms with maximum take off weight up to 100 kilograms.

During the project period 11.02.2020 - 11.10.2020 Eli plans to use the funding to further our research and development into unmanned aerial systems launching platforms and introduce to the market new innovative solution with high export value. The Product development  programme is funded by the European Union Regional Development Funds.

Eli has been accepted into the Enterprise development programme, our project number is EU52451.

The enterprise development programme aims to support well-thought-out development, improved action planning, innovation implementation and product development. In the course of the development programme, each participating enterprise will launch new products and services that are more profitable than their predecessors.

During the project period 2018-2019 Eli plans to use the funding to further our research and development into unmanned aerial systems and introduce to market new innovative solutions with high export value. The enterprise development programme is funded by the European Union Regional Development Funds.

(sub-project PR1.8)

Period of the sub-project: 01.09.15.-31.05.18.

Amount of support: 50596.80  EUR

Description of the sub-project
Digital video is everywhere these days. We look it at our computers and store it with smart devices. Unmanned platforms have an important role in capturing situational awareness through video streams. Different types of flying observation devices use cameras to stream video. Better solutions also use night vision devices alongside daytime cameras to pass on information around them. Finding and keeping in frame the objects of interest in the increased amount of video streams is still predominantly a manual operator's activity. To reduce the operator’s work load and increase the effect of the video, various intuitive control solutions such as locking the desired object or automatically detecting moving objects until automated moving with the object should be used.

The objective and result of the sub-project
The objective of the sub-project is in cooperation with the end-user to develop a system for video stream utilization and a solution starting from gimbal technology to the operator's software. The sub-objectives are:
- To reduce the workload of the unmanned platform operator and to simplify the video operator work
- To make the unmanned platform control more intuitive and based on video stream not on map data
- To reduce the risk of the video disruption from an unstable unmanned platform
- To enhance the video stream quality and reliability and to be able to give the best quality video stream to end user for analyse
- To make it faster and more straightforward for the unmanned platform operator to execute the mission
- To enable observation of moving and stationary objects and make it easier and more intuitive
- To enable determine the location and distance of the object observed
- To enable determine the expected direction of movement
- To increase the accuracy of the information gathered

A stabilized and manageable test version of a two-camera observation device is being created, which also includes video streaming and video capture software with the operator's control system. Developed solution will dissect video stream, identifying possible objects of interest in real-time. Since the system is being used on a UAV platform, it is possible to extract object position inside video frame and use this information to assist the autopilot, basically allowing auto following of any body of interest.

Applied research: Knowledge base for 3D model based manufacturing process design and redesign (sub-project PR1.4)

Period of the sub-project: 01.09.15.-30.06.19.

Amount of support: 26280.00 EUR

Description of the sub-project

The automatic preparation of technological processes based on 3D features is divided into three stages:

·         Recognition of manufacturing features based on 3D model

·         Choosing appropriate technologies, using predefined rules

·         Generation of manufacturing operations

Recognition of manufacturing features is configurable and it is possible to add user-specific forms there.

Using the knowledge base to save rules helps to accumulate knowledge and then re-use it in standardized way.

Operations are generated using the CAM system NX.

The objective and result of the sub-project

The objective of the sub-project is to increase the efficiency of production processes and optimize the technological parameters. The use of feature based machining software in preparation of a technological process significantly increases the speed of preparation and provides better quality technology. This will be achieved by:

•        Using standardized technological processes; and

•        Avoiding human mistakes.

The sub-project results in a knowledge base configured for local conditions to generate manufacturing processes in metal cutting industry.
